Terri's Story

I've lived in Overland Park, KS since 1988 and have worked for the same company for the past 11 years. I'm the Business Manager for a General Contractor which basically means that I'm responsible for all of the financial and administrative functions of the company. Since it's not a large company, I wear a lot of different hats. I really like my job and the people I work for. I work a lot of hours and also keep very busy with all of the organizations that I belong to. I enjoy volunteering and making a difference. Last year when Coffeyville was devastated by the flood and oil spill, I spent weeks collecting furniture, linens, small appliances and household items and I rented a moving truck and drove it down to the distribution center in Coffeyville and spent the day volunteering there. I attend a lot of charity events and fund-raisers, many of which are black tie events which I really enjoy getting dressed up for. I don't miss many Chiefs or K-State football games and also enjoy Big XII basketball. In my 20's & 30's I traveled, worked out and partied a lot and probably saw 20 to 30 concerts/bands a year. Now in my forties, I work a lot, do a lot of volunteering and I'm active in my church. I still enjoy concerts but I'm down to a couple a year. I saw Billy Joel and Sheryl Crow recently and have tickets to see Melissa Ethridge in September. I have season tickets to Starlight Theater and enjoy t...Expand for more
he Broadway plays that come to town. My favorite performances this past year were Wicked, Love Janis and To Kill A Mockingbird...all fabulous productions. I usually attend one Opera and one Ballet a year as well. I also enjoy going to comedy clubs and playing trivia at the Other Place (a local sports bar) while enjoying a couple adult beverages. I enjoy dining out and hanging out with friends, reading, listening to music and doing crosswords. I started taking an annual trip to New York a few years ago, where I enjoy Broadway plays, Gothem Comedy Club, Museum of Modern Art, brunch at Tavern On The Green along with some traditional sight-seeing/tourist attractions and finding little eclectic shops and restaurants. I also enjoy weekends in Chicago, St. Louis and Palm Springs. Over the years, I've lost contact with most of my Coffeyville friends except John Unruh and far too much time goes by between our calls and visits. I'm lucky if I see my cousin, Brian and his wife once a year although I really enjoy them and their kids. I never had children of my own but I've been blessed to have many children in my life. I had my cat Casey for 19 years and she passed a few years ago. I'm currently petless although I spend more time with my boyfriends dog than he does. My life has had a lot of highs and lows but I've landed in a very good place and I feel so blessed that my life has been such an adventure.
