Terry's Story
After graduating from Western High School in 1966 I attended Howard University where I earned a Bachelor of Architecture Degree in 1972; I then attended The Graduate School of Design at Harvard University where I earned a Master of Architecture in Urban Design Degree in 1976. In 1984 I obtained my Architectural Registration Certification in Washington, D.C. Over the course of the past 30 years I have: served as Chief of Urban Design for the District of Columbia's D.C. Office of Planning where I created the City's first Urban Design Plan; the Downtown D.C. Development Plan; The Downtown D.C. Streetscape Standards; I was an adjunct professor of City Planning at the University of Virginia's School of Architecture, (Northern Campus); the University of The District of Columbia's Department of City Planning; I was the Chief of City-Wide and Downtown Planning for the district of Columbia's D.C. ing design consulting services in Atlanta,.Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, and Las Vagas; I served as Chief of Park Development for the Maryland National Capiral Park & Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) for 13 years where I managed a 120 million park development program, supervised a staff of over 60 professional architects, landscape architects, civil engineers, construction managers and procurement and budget staff. I retired from the M-NCPPC in 2010. I am currently President/CEO of Development Services, LLC and international real estate development consulting firm based in Washington, D.C. I am happily married, have two adult children ( a son Kobie and a daughter Kemba). The both are married with with 2 children each; 2 daughters ages 6 and 9 and a son and daughter ages 13 and 8 respectively. Both of my adult children attended college PennState and Howard Universities respectively. My son graduated from the Kennedy School of Business at Harvard University with an MBA in the Fall of 2012. I, my son, my father (now deceased and a former Tuskegee Airman) and brother-in-law are all life members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. I am also a member of the George Washington Chapter of Lambda Alpha, an honorary land economics society.
