Terry's Story
Born in Mojave California, I lived in Trona CA. (a small desert community near Death Valley) I lived there until the middle of 5th grade - 1952. Even though we moved to the city of San Bernardino, I was always back in Trona for holidays and summer vacation. Many happy memories there with my grandparents, cousins, and Church friends. I always felt like I was still part of the Trona Class of 59 ! I attended San Bernardino Christian School for 5th & 6th grade - then on to Sturges Jr High, and graduated from San Bernardino High in 1959. All through High School, I was an active Thespian, and took dancing lessons on the side. After graduation, I continued dancing and modeling for "Bernice of Bernardino." For a while I taught dance to five year old children, and attended Fergusons Beauty School. Had a job waiting for me as soon as the State License came in the mail. I then bought my first car. It was an ugly 52 Chevy hard top! While working as a hairdresser, I enrolled at San Bernardino Valley College. Started with Child Development classes.
I married my High School sweetheart, Don Fasana in March of 1962. He graduated from SBHS one year after me. We left San Bernardino in 1963 to live closer to Dons job with Union Pacific Railroad. Don and I raised wonderful sons. We kept them busy with church activities, music lessons, Boy Scouts, and Little League Baseball. Our home was the gathering place for the boys in the neighborhood. We transported all their friends to and from school. Fun years...Expand for more
! Today, our eldest works in the Aerospace Industry, and our youngest is in the Gem and Mineral business. They are both very good fathers.
We are so fortunate to have grandchildren, which we adore. We have one grandson, three beautiful granddaughters, three wonderful step grandchildren, and two awesome "honorary granddaughters." (Their father lived in our home all through high school)
As much as I loved being a hairdresser, I soon discovered it would not be my life long work. I was always interested in the medical field, so I went back to school in 1974. In time, found myself working for OB/GYN physicians. 28 years assisting two wonderful Doctors who delivered babies! The physicians were good to me and I learned so much from them. My husband gave almost 40 years to the Railroad when we both retired in 2002.
We love to spend time with our grandchildren. Don loves to go fishing and always has his fishing pole ready and I never go anywhere without my camera. I love photography, art, and music. We love our dogs. Holly is a rat Terrier, and Fi Fi, a poodle. We love dogs, have rescued a few and it is never easy to say goodbye when the time comes for them to leave us. I also work on Genealogy, which my father started many years ago.
How blessed I am! Married 59 years now. Our family is the light of our lives. We thank our Heavenly Father every day for our health, our family, our parents, (who we miss so much) and great friends we have met along the way in our life's journey.
