Terry's Story

Life I moved from Wadsworth to Akron in the ninth grade and attended Akron North high school. After graduating from North in 1972 I joined the U.S.Air Force and served 22 yrs before retiring in 1994. I spent my whole career in fire protection and still do fire protection work today. I have been in 40 states and 22 countries. Two of my biggest accomplishments while in the Air Force were helping to write the federal firefighter certification program in use by the US government today and developing the first wartime firefighting course, but I would still have to say the best thing was the priviledge to meet so many great people! I would need a book to name them. I know I am a richer man because of all I met and served with. I have 2 wonderful, beautiful, and bright daughters, Heather and Megan, aged 19 and 24. I am now the safety manager and training coordinator for a large and growing fire protection firm located in 9 cities. I am an avid golfer and bowler. In my spare time I love to travel and have had some great road trips with Megan and Heather. Last year we went to...Expand for more
Florida so Megan could see where she was born. This year it is England! Both girls are smartasses and I don't know where they get it from! I also go to concerts and out dancing( yes I still like to get jiggy with it!). Cleveland is still a great sports town and I enjoy going to Browns, Cavs and Indians games. I am an Indians season ticket holder! If you get to the Pro to see a ballgame go to Heritage park where Heather and Megan have bricks. If you plan on visiting Ohio look me. I will gladly give you a guided tour. You haven't rode a roller coaster until you have went on Top Thrill and Millenium Force at Cedar Point! Military The military was my life for 22 years. Looking back there were so many wonderful times. From midgets vs, giants to getting to be jim ignatowski while training officers. Really the people you meet is the biggest plus. So many to name and not enough space. I would like to thank all of you whom I have had the pleasure to know and have influenced my life in positive ways. I will always remember my military days with great fondness and laughter.
