Terry's Story

Life Hi, Gang. After high school I attended the U.S. Air Force Academy for 2 1/2 years, where I was involved in swimming competitively, playing water polo, skydiving, parasailing behind pickup trucks, mountain survival training, and flying aerobatic maneuvers in gliders and supersonic jet fighter-trainers, among many other things. I dropped out and joined a rock and roll band (so much for being an astronaut, huh?) and married a teenage groupie. Got divorced 5 years later after 1 son. I currently live high in the Rockies outside Estes Park, CO, in a log cabin in the Roosevelt and Arapaho Natl Forests about 100 yards from the boundaries of Rocky Mtn Natl Park and the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area. The malamute/wolf in the photo is 130# and smarter than most of the people I meet. He rarely leaves my side by choice, and he always does whatever I ask him to, even when I don't use my voice. He hauls all our food, water, and other supplies up and down a long snowed-in driveway 4 months of the year with a sled. He trees bears outside the cabin and I have to bring him inside so they can come down and run away. And last April 4th, when I opened the front door and found myself face-to-face with the BIGGEST bear I've ever seen up close (I see a lot of them here), Nyack didn't hesitate in pushing me back out of the way and jumping right inbetween the bear and me and backing the bear away from me. I have lots of photos of all kinds of animals that have either walked right up to me or that have let me walk up to them for photo ops, like bears, moose, elk, deer, coyotes, foxes, bobcats, and many others. My cabin has no running water, but does have a woodburning stove for heat (I fell the trees and split the wood), a woodburning stove/oven from the 1800's, electricity, one phone line, satellite TV, Tivo, and the biggest, baddest sound system in this part of the country, along with a small recording studio and a massive music library. There are bear claw marks on the logs under one of the windows. There is a shower house down the trail a way...Expand for more
s, so I do keep clean. I recently retired after over 20 years from running Colorado's finest mobile DJ company specializing in high-end weddings. My favorite hobby is world adventure travel. I've been in 47 States and 20 foreign countries so far; I especially enjoy going to exotic places and doing exciting things, like snorkeling and shark feeding (look, Ma, NO CAGE!) on Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora in the South Pacific, parasailing on the beach in Mazatlan, backpacking through most of the countries of Europe, and going to Costa Rica to go whitewater rafting through the jungle (and camping beside the river at night), bungee jumping off a bridge 265 feet above a river, hiking on an active volcano while it was erupting, and hanging out on a jungle canopy platform 150 feet off the ground with the wild animals. My last good outing was hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu through the Andes Mountains in Peru. I stopped drinking on New Year's Eve 18 years ago. I haven't combed or brushed my hair for over 22 years now (and no, I'm not bald, and it doesn't dread), and nobody could tell if I didn't tell them. For over 10 years I was a volunteer firefighter, fighting numerous forest fires and going on mountain wilderness rescues. In the summer I'll usually have about 200 little furry and feathered friends within a few yards of me when I call them for their sunflower seed breakfast. It's sort of like out of "Snow White"; they'll all stick their heads up from their holes and come running out of the woods from all different directions. About 20 kinds of birds will come when I call them and often they'll land on my head or shoulders and sit there and sing to me. The squirrels, ground squirrels, rabbits and chipmunks will chase each other over the tops of my feet, and they'll crawl up my legs and sit in my hands and eat in my lap. I'd love to hear from anyone. My address is p.o. box 1501, Estes Park, CO 80517, and phone number is (303) 747-9123 (I'll hear the phone ring inbetween songs). email me at musicontap "at" juno.com. Rock on!
