Terry's Story
I met my husband Ron in January 1969 as a blind date. He was introduced to me by my dear late friend Julia Googe.. He graduated from York High School, and was in the Navy stationed at Norfolk back then. We got married my senior year in October '69 before he was deployed overseas for a year. Through the years we stayed mostly on the Peninsula, Hampton, Newport News and Williamsburg and 5 years in Gloucester. We had a family of 3 girls and 1 boy and I now have 8 grandchildren and 1 great grand daughter who is almost 2 years old. My husband passed away in November 2002. We had 33 very happy years together, and I am thankful for that. I now understand why I met him and married him at such a young age,! I do believe everything happens for a reason.
In high school I had big dreams of being an Interpreter at the United Nations, this is why I took both Spanish and German classes. Instead I met my husband, got married and did not pursue that dream. e, and work kept me busy thru the years, I still don't know where the years went, seems like only yesterday!
I didn't really have much of a social life in school because my mother was widowed and very strict and I was the oldest of 9 children. I had a few friends that I hung out with and I did attend our "ring dance" ~ but missed prom. I am planning to attend our "50th" class reunion next year ~ I think it is time to just reunite and say hello again!
Since my social life was rather limited in high school, my memories are vague. Some names are very familiar tho, so we must have had a connection of some kind! I can't wait to see old friends and make some new ones along the way. Say hello!
It has hurt my heart to see so many familiar names on "The Wall Of Honor" as I was looking forward to seeing them again. It's a reality check for sure. so remember to live each day to the fullest. We are all blessed to still be here. I hope to reconnect here and on FB with anyone who remembers me so that when the reunion comes around, I will be surrounded by friends again!
Luv y'all
