Terry's Story
I left Seattle in 1970 and moved first to Houston, Tx where I taught Physical Science at Ryan Junior High School. It was an interesting time as the school was integrated my first year by bringing in 25 Caucasian teachers.
The students were wonderful but I recall the first few weeks when they could not understand my West coast accent and I could not understand them. I just taught and thought that eventually I would get it and they would understand me and it did work out.
My next move was to the Republic of Panama. I taught part time on the Army base. My job was to prepare the soldiers to pass the GED exam. I also had a job at Academia Santa Maria in Colon Panama (Carribbean side of the country) teaching high school girls. Got to spend plenty of time in South America as I did not come north of Guatemala for ...Expand for more
three years!!!
Next stop back to Houston in late 1974. I started law school in January 1975 and graduated and passed the bar in May 1977.
First job and second job were in the legal dept. of large corporations. In 1984, with two young girls I chose to enter private practice and have been working full time ever since. I love being an attorney and use my Spanish, acquired in Panama, daily.
In 1979 I married Candelario or Candy, also an attorney and we have had a great friendship and time together. He is very social and loves a crowd at our home and ranches. I have become somewhat quieter and prefer traveling, reading, gardening and cycling fairly long distances, 12- 30 miles at a time.
My two girls are happily married and we have 2 grandchildren in Portland, Oregon and two inHouston, Tx.
That is about it.
