Terry's Story
Life
After graduating from ISU, I taught in Oak Lawn, then in Aurora. I left Illinois in '86 and moved to New Orleans, then to California in '88. I teach elementary physical education, and I love it. I do a lot of sailing, and have sailed to Catalina more times than I can count!
I've had the opportunity to crew in several sailboat races, including twice in the Tommy Bahama/Lexus Newport Beach to Ensenada race, which is the largest international sailing regatta in the world. retire and sail away! She's capable of going pretty much anywhere -- one of the previous owners sailed her from San Diego to Hawaii and back!
I've also chartered in the Virgin Islands, which is wonderful.
I have a pilot's license, but I don't fly anymore.
Update! I'm retiring in June, after a staggering forty-three years in education! My school district is offering a retirement incentive that's too good to pass up, so it looks like this will be 'it' for me.
Well, I did it -- I retired, and I must say that it agrees with me. I manage to spend several days every week down at the boat, and hop soon to sail off into the sunset, or at least down to Mexico for few months.
