Terry's Story
School
My biggest crush was Miss Mona Lynn Autry. I truly worshiped the ground she walked on, but always from afar.
The teachers who have inspired me are as follows: Mr. Peterson, Mr.Beck, Mr.Blankenship, Miss Peck, and Mrs Spigner. Who could ever forget Mr. Butler or Mrs. Gardner? It seems like I received five licks or copied a theme every day of my sophomore and junior years!!
My happiest memories are from the Pride of Eastern Oklahoma, attending football games, pep rallies and one summer semester at The University of Tulsa. My craziest memory (there are so many) would involve Junior Allen, the late Clay Sewell and myself in what was termed by school administration as "The Infamous Red Dot Plot". If I could do it all over again? Yes, but I would make more friends and better grades and I would have tried my darndest date Mona Autry! I have been blessed with my wonderful wife, Jani...Expand for more
ce, my two daughters and my grandson Nicholas. I have also been blessed with the many wonderful memories I have from dear old SHS.
I've done a lot of different things since my then skinny body was attending high SHS. The smartest thing I ever did was decide to go back to college at age thirty six. I enrolled at Carl Albert State College and although I hadn't played an instrument in almost twenty years, I made the jazz band there. I finished with a BA/Ed from Northeastern State in four years. I have taught in public schools in Fort Smith, Wister, Heavener ( where I was named State Teacher of the Year two times ) and Bokoshe. I have also taught as an adjunct professor at Carl Albert. I am now retired from teaching and I spend my evenings driving a shuttle for The University of Tulsa. GO HURRICANE!! I spend what little free time I have either with my grandson or attempting to play golf.
