Terrye's Story
Life
My former husband passed away and I remarried in 2004. I married a classmate whom I had never known in school, but met here is CA. How weird is that? His name is Robert Koper, class of 63.
I have three children from my former marriage: a son and two daughters.
We have 4 dogs and 2 cats; all of whom are rescue animals from various shelters. Most were old and had owners that had died so they probably would not have been easily adopted. We love them very much!
When I am not in the classroom or in the lab I am on the tennis courts. I enjoy playing competitively and belong to a club that has lots of opportunity to play.
I enjoy good music, love to cook -- when there is time, and really enjoy gardening. We have lots of fruit trees in our yard; everything from Ranier cherries to lemons and a kaffir lime tree. I use the kaffir leaves in Thai cooking.

lways drive up to Tahoe! I miss my kids, friends and other relatives, but the weather here is to die for. It is nice almost year round. It is summer now (mid July 2008) and we don't even need air conditioning, but in San Francisco (SF), where I work, it is like Fall or Winter. When tourists visit SF in the summer, expecting to swim and surf, they are surprisd to find that it is so chilly. The Golden Gate brings us a natural air conditioning by way of the fog and the tourists run to buy coats and hoodies!
My Job
I teach various courses in biology at San Francisco State Universtiy. My discipline is in cell & molecular biology which incorporates quite a lot of interesting studies including microbiology, genetics and immunology.
I also maintain all the bacteria and fungi for the biology department here at State.
My research is in obesity. I try to locate matrix attachment regions in obesity genes and compare them to normal genes. Most of this work is done on the computer using bioinformatics.
