1963-65 Below par grades inspired me to Join US Navy after Grad.
1965-1969 US Navy during Vietnam....scared
1966...Navy puts me into Electronics Training school because I scored in the upper 10% of all tested in the Navy...???? Are they sure they got the right guy?
Graduated a year long Electronics School and now waiting orders....real scared....How do I fix things with a bullet hole in them?? How do I fix things with a bullet hole in me??
1966- Orders received ....stationed in Hawaii....Are they sure they got the right guy?
1967-69 Look, I can fix anything .... worked in Top Secret Crypto equipment. Discharged, lost several friends in Vietnam.... sad

So when you think you are on the bottom of the Totem Pole, It just depends on the schools and training you happen to fall into. So Franklin gave me a good education as did the Navy and a Corporation called GTE.
That's my story and I'm happy to relate it here. Oh, the only surprise in life was the need to settle down in Texas. Work was plentiful and met wife here. Now with two kids and two grand children.... Granddaughter #1 is on the National Honor role....she's special. Little one coming up is also going to do great. Family still lives in Seattle, visits are limited with Covid, etc. at 74 I'll be making a few less trips to the great Northwest. I miss it of course. I think I'll go drown my sorrows in some great BBQ..... Stay well:
