Theresa's Story

Life i am now married to Jan chambliss. we have 5 kids between us, and 5 grand kids. Alex, my son by Joe alloway (we married in 75 and divorced in 82) is the oldest. he works at Bristol and lives in Evansville with his wife and two kids, Luke and ally. Jan's daughter, Hayley, his daughter with Cathy Davis walls, is next, she works at HUMANA and lives in the Louisville area with the love of her life, and her daughter, madisyn. Jan's son, Kent, also with Cathy, joined the NAVY and lives and works in ballston spa, NY. with his wife and son, river. he also has a son, Scott, with Erin greenwell, Becky Wolfe's daughter. Scott lives in e'ville, and we get to see him often. Ian is next, my son with mike albright my second husband whom i married in 85 and divorced in 94. (Jan and i married in 98) when i married mike, he adopted Jeremy Joe Alexander and Jeremy began to go by "Alex" albright. some of you may remember him as "Jeremy". ANYWAY, Ian is a student at usi, teaches tae kwon do in morganfield, and is a member of ROTC, and INDIANA NATIONAL GUARD. he is an MP, so keep him in your prayers. this world is in troubled times. and last but certainly not least, is Carson. he began is attending UK on a full scholarship in 07 and works for Alliance Coal (Charlie Wesley's "go to guy")when his studies allow. Our kids are my life. i am not working outside the home. Jan works at Dotiki Coal Mines. We have been together for 12 years and are very happy. my mom died in July 2003 and my dad moved in with us. he is a mountain of wisdom and it is a blessing to have him here. i am his caregiver and stay home quite a bit now because he does not have the energy to run around like we used to.......he is quite well tho, has begun to get his sense of humor back, since his 2002 strokes and that is good to experience again. he is so witty. he and Jan have a good time together. they are both workaholics (well, Jan is gone to work, i don't know how much he actually works)and it is difficult for dad not to be able to do the manual labor like he used to and not to remember how to do some of it too. he likes a garden and loves having the grand kids here. our home is very busy with the boys friends and dad and i love it that way. reminds us of our house when i was growing up. bobby, jenny sue, Renee, Ronnie or Cindy were always over at our house. my childhood memories: i am from the big metro sturgis area...........pop. 2200(same size as my church i go to now, HOLY NAME in Henderson) it was a real treat for me to go to jimmy Wallace's to get a dime hamburger and then go to his donut shop for those great donuts!(with Gina long) my hips thank him though for retiring......i loved walking to the timmons dairy maid and buying a slushie or BLT. who could forget coach's corner's chicken, fish, or big ice cream cones?!? (i bet Mary Greer would like to forget the smell they left in her hair and clothes when she got off work, she always had to go home and change and shower before we could go cruising at the morganfield DQ.)my neighborhood (4 ever in my heart)friends were lee Ann and Joe ed chandler, Ronnie rich, the Lovell's, the Clarks, Kay Floyd, bobby west, his sisters, Cindy, Renee, and cousin jenny sue west,(jenny sue and i were always sneaking out of the house at nite to go swimming in the Kiwanis pool, most of the time we got away with it, a few times we got caught by my mom and even twice by the city cops, we could only stay under water so long with that spot light going back and forth across the pool, it was always innocent enough, sometimes others would meet us there, but we would get busted for sure because it would be too noisy then.........) our yard was the yard to play baseball in and release and hide and seek. good times. and we had the bag swing, woods, train track (we would take a shortcut to the airport that way, and get in trouble for not telling our parents first) and eventually the flood wall. my other "forever can depend on" neighborhood friends were Cathy and Cheri Davis (i know and now I'm married to Cathy's ex, mom said it was too bizarre for her to think about) my best friends in grade school were Linda Johnson and Cindy Conn. when i began going to St. Peters to school, Irene peak, Cheryl Blake, Jennifer buckman, Maryann Thomas, Joyce Clements, CRAZY Brad Moore, Gail Pulaski, sandy burnet...Expand for more
te and i were friends, to name a few. thru church i guess i also became good friends with Gina long. she's the best. lot of good memories with her. in high school i was not in a click. i tried to make friends with everyone. it was an eye opening experience for me to go to public school after all those years of catholic school. Mary Greer and i got to be good friends (her mom is my second mom, and her dad was my dad's best friend). terry engle and rose (tweety)Buchanan were good friends too. we had some good times at the drive-in meeting up with people. the drive-in......that was a good memory. the first people i call now if i really need to talk are Kim Baker and Mary Greer. Kim and i became friends while i was dating Joe. she probably knows me better than anyone. most people who knew me (outside of school) thought i was stuck up (but i was really shy) but Kim knows a different side of me. our sons were good friends while we lived in union co. Joe and i lived in Henderson, sturgis and even jax fl for a year after Alex was born, he worked for his uncle as a plumber's assistant. i was trying to run away from the problem (drugs) but they followed everywhere we went. when Alex was old enough to understand i quit running and we split up. i had moved back to sturgis and Joe followed. it was a devastating time for me. i was raised that you do not get divorced, but i felt i had no choice for the safety of Alex and myself. Joe would not seek help. after i married mike , we had our honeymoon in Germany while he was stationed there. it was a great month and the country there is beautiful. we also traveled to adjoining countries. we saw the the Broadway show "JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR" there and it was a moving experience. we moved to Colo spgs. and that is where Ian was born at Ft Carson Army Hospital, the hospital room looked out over NORAD. we traveled up pikes peak, toured the royal gorge and the Colorado attractions. mike had joined the army after Hamilton coalmines shut down due to the fire in 83. the mines called him back in 87 and we moved back to the area. i did not want to move away from colo. i loved the beauty of it and had become a broncos fan. if we came back, i wanted to live in Henderson so we moved there. mike wasn't happy in the army, it was different than being a army brat like when he was growing up. i wanted him to be happy in his work and he missed KY. sadly, once again i failed at marriage. it ended but i had to pick myself up for the sake of the boys and decided to stay in the house, so at least after losing their dad they would not also lose their home. i managed to get some jobs and pay the mortgage. i had three jobs at one time, but i had a lot of help from my parents with the boys and i didn't lose the house. thru the grace of God, now i think mike and i have a good relationship as Joe and i did(when i saw him), until he was killed in a car accident in 2003. a very sad experience for Alex and me. life is a learning experience. i just pray my kids won't have the heartache i have had. i am happy to have had the relationships, my kids are great. mike and Joe both tried to be good husbands. i think we all just needed to grow up. i believed in fairy tale romances and thought all men were like my dad. i think the world of mike's mom and only wish the best for all the family members. i will always consider them part of my family. i hope mike is happy and healthy. Ian has always put him up on such a pedestal and he was there for Alex when he couldn't count on Joe. he is very good about supporting Ian in all his ventures and takes him supper at his taekwondo school. that's why i married him because he is such a great cook. seriously. (smile) analyze this: all three husbands worked in coalmines. all three did not have their fathers around while they were growing up. all three from sturgis area. what does that tell you about me? in all this i turn to God and He inspires me to do art and relax and know that He has a plan for me. I am not a terrible person because i have had two failed marriages, i am human and i hope God has forgiven me for all my sins. everyday i try to do better and learn from my mistakes. i guess i am just a slow learner.................smile. so, that's my story. i hope i don't ever run for public office, this would kill my chances for election.
