Theresa's Story

I thought I should update my profile since my last update was ten years ago. I’m not working — disabled with narcolepsy. So I’m busy at home working in our little home office.. I’m mostly scheduling doctor visits, paying bills, calling insurance companies, etc., etc. I have the EDS (Excessive Daytime Sleepiness) form of narcolepsy That means my body regularly craves 12-19 hrs of sleep almost every day. It’s exhausting. (Pun intended.) Try to get laundry, shopping, doctor visits, etc. squeezed into a day when you’re not sure if you’ll even be awake at that time anyway. I do my best to keep to my med schedule, so that helps. But really? I enjoy my life. That’s half of an average day. The other half is in my art studio. More about that after I tell you about my beautiful girls. My daughters are both in their 30s now. Where does time go?! Michelle is married to Jason & works as a nurse in Cleveland, and Jen works in the automotive industry. She married Bob earlier this month, and they live just east the Lansing area, so she lives much closer to home. They’re both set in their marriages & c...Expand for more
areers, so now I’m waiting for grand-babies! Todd & I have been married for almost 12 years now. Todd picked the wedding date to be 2-4-07, so he would never forget our anniversary— 24/7! Marriage is a full-time jod, isn’t it? I’ve been living in the Lansing area for 20 years now. Not teaching parenting classes anymore. Now I’m preparing to become put my 3-yr passion to a fun job... as a Certified Zentangle Teacher. (Here’s the part about the art studio.) I’ll be helping people learn the Zentangle Method of tangling, which is different than doodling in that tangling involves drawing pre-determined patterns with an unplanned outcome. You can use the same four patterns (or tangles) in hundreds of ways, always creating a different non-representational drawing on small pieces of special 3.5” sq.art paper. So we don’t draw pictures; but we do create beautiful artwork with pen & ink and other mediums. Can you tell I’m excited to teach beginning in Jan, 2019.? Well, that’s what I have to share. For now. I’ll try not to wait another 10 years before I update again. Peace & blessings to you.
