Theresa's Story

Well, I missed our 40th reunion :( I suffer from night blindness and couldn't find a place to stay for the night - I would have had to drive all the way back to Champaign in the dark, which would have been terribly difficult considering I didn't have a car at the time. Oh well. Maybe next reunion. I have been attempting, for the past 40 years, to make a living as a writer. In a sense I have succeeded, because I write articles for Associated Content and Xomba and several blogs on blogger. All of the following blogs, when the space is taken out, can be found by putting a blogspot and then a dot and then a com after each one: Paranormal Minds, My Heart Blogs To You, Help For Single Parents, Writer of Blogs, and Your Blog Connection. Sadly, writing is not yet paying the bills. I have four grown children (one a licensed massage therapist, one an administrative assistant for an engineering firm, one a United States Marine who has been to Iraq FOUR TIMES (very stressful times for his mom), and one an assistant manager for an upscale retail shop). I am a grandmother of 10, ranging in age from 21 years all the way down to nearly 20 months, great grandmother of 2 (one is 2 years old and one will be 1 year old in November), designer, writer, and daycare provider (an 11-hour a day job). I'm still praying that one day I will live my dream of writing for a living. Anyway, I have had only two writing awards so far - an honorable mention in the 74th ...Expand for more
Annual Writer's Digest Writing Competition, and I was the first ever Writer's Digest Script Notes Spinoff Contest winner. You can find me on myspace. I check there regularly for updates on my younger family members' lives and have posted my own info there as well - includes lots of pictures. I am on facebook more often than myspace though (photos on facebook are newer), and I'm on twitter as well (still not sure yet what twitter is all about). Divorced twice - better to be single and alone than to be married and lonely. Other than writing in my "spare" time, I crochet - usually just afghans for new babies - and I read. I'm never bored, always busy, and I sometimes wonder if I have enough years left to complete everything I plan to finish...one of which is a screenplay. In closing, I have to say that I would have loved to have seen all of you at the reunion. I have so many great memories of Kathie Andrews, Denise Deutsch (both of whom I still keep in touch), Cathy and Caryn Reinholtz, Steve Goss, John Zuzich, Dann Lobsinger, Jean Horner, Pat McLaughlin, Nancy and Patsy Cadman, Kathy Studzinski, Patti Warner, Jean LeBeau, and so many more. Those were just the first several people who popped into my head. Oh, one more thing: my oldest "baby" just turned 40 this year!!!!! The end ;) Update: I've just been diagnosed with breast cancer (2009). Chemo starts in October which coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month - good timing, huh?
