Theresa's Story

Life Turns out I have worked most of my life for the same company, USAA...and I'm happy I've worked for the same company for more than 25 years. I never thought I would retire from anywhere. I started out in the mail room as an outgoing mail clerk and now work in Security as a Sr. Admin. Spt. Assoc. I love my hours, 7 to 4, this gives me plenty of time to enjoy life in the evenings at home or with family. I only worked at Target for 1 1/2 years, during a time when my second husband was laid off from the U.S.P.S for a back injury. Target was fun, but hard work. I feel for anyone who has to work retail, it isn't all that wonderful a job. Married twice with two (2) twentysome things from my first marriage and a wonderful step-son from my second marriage. The children kept me busy during their high school years with ROTC, Music, Band and Clubs...not to mention I was the driver for everything until they each had their own license to drive. Now living on my own with my daughter now and then here in Bandera, Texas. I have several pets that keep me company when she isn't around. First time I did any major traveling was in September of 1979, took a trip to Monte Carlo to visit a pen pal of 4 years. Stayed in Monoco and Italy for 7 week, had the time of my life and would love to go back. I still keep in touch with my pen pa...Expand for more
l, now for 30 years. Used to travel back and forth to South Carolina from 1981 to 1995 when I was married to my first husband, his family was from there and we used to take our children to spend the summer with their grandparents. It was a lot of fun, I'm a car traveler and I always found ways to make the trips something to look forward too with sightseening and things to do. And I have a brother that still lives in the Norfolk area, but I don't get to Virginia that ofter. Last time I was there was March of 2005, when my son graduated from boot camp. Maybe I'll visit again in 2007. Currently have three beautiful niece's I spend lots of time with, they keep me young and they keep me from dwelling on my son to much, who is in Iraq. I write and send him packages often. I pray that all our men and women come back safely on a regular basis and Thank God for protecting them another day. Being a mother and aunt is a wonderful job for me, too bad I couldn't do it full time. My goal was to finish my degree and teach, but work always seemed to be more important when your trying to pay for expenses and provide for your children. I'm on the 30 year plan for getting my BS in Education, but I will have it by the time I retire. This is me in a nut shell, a lot of time has passed and there isn't enought space to list it all...lol
