Theresa's Story
Life
Life has been good and I have been blessed with a great husband and three daughters, Grace (12), Sophia (10) and Julia (8). My girls have never lived in the US, but we try to visit once a year. After living in Washington DC and New York City, I moved overseas for work to Almaty, Kazakhstan (Cental Asia), then Tbilisi, Georgia (Caucasus), then Dakar, Senegal (West Africa), then Budapest, Hungary (Eastern Europe) and now we live in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (Middle East). We have been overseas for 13 years...it has been a wonderful experience..My girls go to American international schools, play sports, music, and get to travel and learn about other cultures. We own a house in Old, Lyme, CT and take summer vacations there by the shore...It is always great to be back in the US...it is truly the best place in the world...
Workplace

Service Corps)...and from there moved overseas working on international development projects in 18 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East. I love taking on challenges and have worked for private companies, non-profit organizations, the US government and the UNDP (United Nations Development Program.) For the US government I have directed and managed projects funded by the US Agency for International Development (private sector development, helping small and medium size companies and organizations), U.S. State Department (public administration and employment initiatives), U.S. Department of Defense (defense conversion: converting military factories to civilian use).
After 18 years of working for others, I decided to start my own consulting business with two other international development experts in 2004. The 100% women-owned business is called Alexandria Consulting Team (ACT) LLC. Our HQ is based in Alexandria, Virginia, with offices in Europe (Bratislava, Slovakia) and the Middle East (Abu Dhabi, UAE).
For our 20th reunion I was based in Budapest, Hungary, for our 25th I am based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. I don't know if I will make it due to work commitments in the Middle East.. but I wish everyone the best.
