Theresa's Story

Life refer to school bio. School I spent nearly six years after graduation living out of a backpack. My parents moved us to Austraila the start of my senior year (bad move), it derailed my nursing career. But I've met some really awesome people between here and there. When I did settle down it was in Las Vegas, NV. I love the west! I've been able to pursue interest that in the south I was restricted from, ie., I wasn't allow to take shop class in the eighth grade. I had to take home-ec. What really pissed me off was that I had been sewing longer than the teacher who was teaching the class; I made the clothes I wore to school and she's telling me how to sew! e trades I started my own welding business. I met the man of my dreams, married, had three daughters and became a 'stay-at-home-educating' mom. Seven years ago, we left Las Vegas and moved to Oregon. It was a good move for my girls and I, it wasn't so good for my husband. After nearly twenty-four years I'm divorcing. I believe he has PTSD. I hope he gets the help he needs. So I'm nearly single again and I'm heading back into nursing. Life is a circle, or is it a squirrel cage? UP-DATE Ten months after my divorce my youngest daughter died. Ragan had autism and seizures related to the disorder and died from respiratory arrest due to seizure. Again, nursing school alluded me; I was grieving. Instead, with the recommendation of my autism consultant I accepted a position in the school district in the autism program. It's been nearly four years since Ragan died and although this journey isn't over I am alive, well, and grateful.
