Theresa's Story
Life
I hope everyone reading the bio is having a wonderful life. I am currently living in Richmond, Kentucky - working for Buckhorn Children and Family Services as a Clinical Treatment Specialist. Basically, I develop therapeutic treatment plans for kids with abuse and neglect in their history who are now in Buckhorn foster homes. During the weekends I work with neglected and abused teenagers at a residential center in downtown Lexington. I guess the 'helping others' philosophy of Oneida is in my blood somewhere.
I am currently single and - at the rate my life has gone / is going - will likely stay that way, but I have a good sense of humor about it. I have two boys, ages 19 and 12. The 19 year old is in his freshman year at the University of South Carolina while the 12 year old is in Middle school in Lexington. I have assorted cats and dogs who keep me company as well.
I finished my Master's degree in Social work a few years ago at the University of Kentucky and took the state licensure board exam to become a certified therapist in Kentucky as well. In my spare time I enjoy drumming - mostly djimbe / hand drums - with my hippie friends, playing Everquest II online and taking long naps with my dogs.
I've held up relatively well physically speaking - people say I look younger than I am...Expand for more
which is a real blessing at age 38. I still enjoy life and am glad to be here - despite learning a lot from the school of hard knocks. My goal for the next few years is to advance my career, get more professional letters after my name, see my older son graduate from college (or find a rewarding career of some sort) and see my younger son grow out of his current "gothic" teen phase. There is only so much "Marilyn Mason", "Seether" and "Insane clown posse" music a mother can take.....
For those who may have read this post to find out about my folks and how they are doing, they are not in the best of health but seem to be happy living in Allendale, South Carolina. Dad is retired, mom continues to teach high school level English at the local public school. They have two rotwielers, Tazzy and Beau. My brother, James, also lives in South Carolina.
I'd love to hear from fellow classmates or Oneida folks I knew in the years after I graduated, mom's former students, my former students, my former teachers and former professional colleagues. In particular, I'd love to hear from academic team members (Neil, if you're out there, drop me a line!), fencing team members (Eric, Teresa, Jonathan how the heck are ya?) and drama troop friends (Tracy, Jennifer, Darrell & Donny - whazzup?)
