Thomas's Story
Life
After high school, I took the economical route though college going 2 years to San Bernardino Valley College and 2 more at Cal State San Bernardino. Tuition was free back then at SBVC and nearly free at CSSB - nothing like today. With a degree in Physics, getting hired into aerospace engineering in the early 80's was a breeze since that was at the height of the defense build-up so off I went to work at TRW Ballistic Missiles Division at Norton AFB in San Bernardino. ly slowed down in the mid 90's and I found myself interviewing for a job with Loral Federal Systems in Colorado Springs. During the interview, we heard over the intercom that Loral had been bought by Lockheed Martin so I ended up as an LM employee and they shipped me back to Santa Maria California with occasional trips to Florida to work on upgrading launch systems at Vandenberg AFB and Cape Canaveral. I still head back the San Bernardino area periodically to visit family and friends.
