Thomas's Story
Life:
My Spouse:
Met at night school at the University of Houston in 1978. Started night school after discharge from Navy. Still married after all these years. Who'd a thunk it?
My Pets:
Maintain a salt water aquarium with anemones, clownfish, hawkfish, tangs, several species of coral which include zooanthids, Kenya Tree, inverts, and some very delicate pulsing xenias.
My Kids:
Lara is married, living in Cedar Park, TX, with two kiddos, now a principal for an elementary school while her husband works for a Motorola spinoff.
My Work:
Have been a self-employed computer consultant for the past 30 years, specializing in computer networks and their infrastructure. Don't ya just love Microsoft?
My biggest recommendation for you guys that use computers is to make absoutely sure you back up your data. Do it painlessly by Carbonite.com for a relatively easy, foolproof, safe and convenient way to back up your data, or entire computer. You don't want to lose those gigabytes of .jpg photos at this point.
Main Hobbies:
I've been drifting toward my passion for photography for the past few years. I've had a camera in my hands since my early 20's and just keep on shooting. If you see one of my photos with my copyright on it, usually in a lower corner, that means the photo may not be copied for use in ANY commercial project. I don't mind personal use but they must not show up in anything commercial & they absolutely may not be sold and reproduced for commercial purposes.

went to Bisley Camp, England in 2003 to compete in the World Long Range Championships. Finished 10th overall, 4 Americans placed in the top 10 individually with an American taking the top spot. The long range matches we compete in use the old single shot buffalo hunter style of rifle and we shoot at targets that are placed at 800, 900 and 1000 yards, shooting at those with open iron sights. Have served the past 12 years as the Texas State Rifle Association Director for Black Powder Cartridge Silhouette. Check out the website I maintain for our club, yauponcreek.org for an idea about what we do.
Military:
Enlisted USNR in 1968 to avoid being drafted after having way too much fun at Lamar Tech in Beaumont. Sent to full bootcamp, then sub school. Assigned to diesel sub USS Catfish (SS339) in 1969 where, after stint on deck gang and mess cooking, became a Yeoman. Underway duty included bow/stern planes and helsman. Was manuevering watch/battlestations helmsman which I thought was great. Fairly low stress and was aware of exact boat situation and what we were doing. All I had to do was "drive."
Duty terminated when Catfish decommissioned and sold to Argentina. Received early out at that point. The Catfish, renamed the Santa Fe by Argentina, was attacked by the British during the Falklands War. Limping back into port, the Santa Fe was scuttled by her Argentinian crew.

Who made up those lame choices on the Q&A? Talk about a bunch of politically correct BS! Visit my Facebook page, listed as Tom Berwick. You'll definitely see non-PC postings.
