Thomas Cambria:  

After graduating from Seton Hall Prep in 1970, I continued my studies at Seton Hall University while working part-time at Lanky's Sunoco, on South Orange Ave. (I needed to supplement my student loans to pay for my education.) After two years of pre-med curriculum, I came to the realization that Medical School was not in my future. I changed my major to Psychology because I enjoyed it (not because it was likely to lead to a career.) When the gas crisis struck in 1973, I found part-time employment as a store security officer for Bambergers Department Store in the Livingston Mall. After earning my BA in Psychology from SHU, I found employment as a Probation Officer with the Middlesex County Probation Department. During this time, I worked in New Brunswick and Perth Amboy. In 1975, I married my first wife and moved to Forked River, NJ. I left the Middlesex County Probation Department to attend the New Jersey State Police Academy in September 1977. I graduated from the State Police Academy in January 1978. I was assigned, as a general road-duty trooper, to South Jersey Stations at Port Norris, Mays Landing, and Tuckerton.
