After HS I attended Virginia Tech where I earned a Bachelor of Architecture, graduating in 1973. I met my wife Sue when I was in college and we were married in 1972. We have a daughter Courtney who lives with her husband in Hoboken, and a son Stephen, who lives in Houston with his wife and three sons, all under 4 years old. In 1972, in lieu of doing a thesis, I spent the year off campus working in VISTA at the Neighborhood Design Center in Baltimore. After a year at NDC I started my first job in an architectural office and in 1975 we moved to Baltimore from College Park, Maryland, where Sue had been a graduate student at the University of Maryland.
