Life Send me a message at tomcarmody at cox dot net. After 30 plus years at the San Diego Police Department I took a service retirement at the end of June, 2005. Retirement is great! My bride has also retired as a letter carrier from the Postal Service. We plan to put our 5th wheel to good use and travel this great country from sea to shining sea. In August, 2006, I passed my Technician exam for Amateur Radio (HAM). In June, 2007, I passed another exam and upgraded to General. I use my law enforcement expertise working emergency communications at incidents where immediate protection of life and property is needed when normal modes of communications have failed. My call sign was KI6FCM, but I have a new one now. It is KJ6TDC. I have joined two emergency organizations for HAM Radio. One is ROARS, Ramona Outback Amateur Radio Society which handles emergencies in and around Ramona California. The other is SATERN, Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network. I can be called up to go to any major disaster in the U.S. That should keep me from getting bored. :) I am the SATERN Coordinator and the Net Control Operater for San Diego County. Every Thursday evening I run two radio nets. At 8:00 you can tune to the 2 meter band, 147.075 with a positive offset and a PL Tone of 107.2.
