Thomas's Story
I have been away from things for so long I wanted to reconnect with old friends in some way and my Son suggested this arena to try. I left Los Angeles 1n late 1983 and joined the US. Navy and proudly served aboard The fast attack Submarine USS. Scamp my entire enlistment. This was a very proud time in my life, I was doing something that had a purpose plus I saw places all around the world. I was stationed in Groton CT until 1987, that was the year the boat changed home port to Bremerton Wa for decom. That is where I met my wife Darla I was going to college on my off time and she was in my political science class, up to this point I wanted nothing to do with relationships other than to have fun with somebody until I got out of the Navy. I recieved my Honorable Discharge Feb.22 1988 and went back to L.A for 9 mths working as an AC guy and construction with my Brother in Law never intending to go back to Washington, but Darla was persistant and I moved back in Nov. of 1988 and got a job with a Defense Contractor, Darla and I got Married in May of 1989 (she won!). I started work as a Marine Pipefitter and welder for the Navy in the Shipyard up here in 1990 and have been here ever since, my jobs changed in the mid 90's due to cutbacks and I became a Shipwr...Expand for more
ight building scaffold and dock settings aroung the Ships and drydocks. I got promoted to Foreman in 1999 and General Foreman in 2003. I am now Resource Manager for the wood and paint group responsible for close to 900 employees and everyday is a challenge but its a different challenge which makes going to work interesting. I have 3 Kids Marissa who just turned 18 this year, Tom who is 15, and my rebel 3rd child Alyssa who is 14, all 3 are great kids and I love them very much, they are very good students and have a drive they must have gotten from their Mom. Tom is very much into baseball and plays for his school and a select team here. He is a left handed pitcher with a wicked change up, he is already getting looks and he has a plan, but at 15 he doesn't share much of what he is thinking, he is a good boy and I trust his decisions. I will be married 20 yrs this May, Lots of ups and downs but hey who doesn't have those, for the most part its been good, regrets I have none, changes? maybe a few but not many. I could keep going but I have probably said more than anyone wanted to read, I just want to say Hi to all my good old friends and people I cared about so long ago and try to maybe get back in touch.
