Thomas's Story

******************************************************************************************* I ONCE TOOK A SOLEMN OATH TO DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION AGAINST ALL ENEMIES FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC BE ADVISED NO ONE HAS RELIEVED ME OF THAT RESPONSIBILITY! ================================================================== SOME PEOPLE LIVE AN ENTIRE LIFETIME AND WONDER IF THEY HAVE EVER MADE A DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD. A VETERAN DOESN'T HAVE THAT WORRY. ================================================================== SURE I WAVE THE AMERICAN FLAG. DO YOU KNOW A BETTER FLAG TO WAVE? SURE I LOVE MY COUNTRY, WITH ALL HER FAULTS. WHY NOT? I'M NOT ASHAMED OF THAT, NEVER HAVE BEEN - NEVER WILL BE. ================================================================== I was born in Bellaire, Ohio, on 21 July, 1945. I started kindergarten at Fort Knox and graduated High School at Fort Knox. In the mean time - I traveled around the world twice and went to seventeen different schools, one for three days. I started my Junior year of High School at Fort Meade, Md. In April of 1962, Dad was transferred back to Fort Knox. We were advised that we would not get base housing for about a year. As a result, we found a place off base and I was enrolled in - and attended E-town High. Then my Dad ran into an old friend who happened to be the Post Housing Officer. Three days later, we had post housing and I was going to Fort Knox High (three schools in one year). It's nice to have friends. After graduating High School in 1963, I went into the U.S. Army Security Agency (ASA). After separating from the Active Army I went into the Reserves in 1967, I went to work for AT&T in 1967 as a technician. I retired from AT&T as a Telecommunications Engineer in Oct 1999. At that time, I went back into the Active Army as a Warrant Officer working at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). While working at the DIA, I was assigned to the Defense Attache Office (DAO) in various Embassy's.I stayed with the DIA until forced to retire from the Army in July 2007 (44 years - Active and Reserve Service). After retiring from the Army, I continued working for DIA as a contractor until we got Bin Lading. Then I retire - retired. ================================================================== I was able to stay in the Army until my 62d Birthday. That's right, I was in the Active and Reserve forces for just over 44 years. Only General Officers and Warrant Officers are permitted to stay until their 62d birthday. The last nine years of Army Service, I was on Active Duty as a Warrant Officer. For that period of time, I was assigned to "The Defense Intelligence Agency" (DIA) as a member of the Diplomatic Corps. I served as an Operations Coordinator (OPSCO), [that's like a First Sergeant at the Defense Attache Office (DAO) in the embassy]; and/or an Ar...Expand for more
my Attache (ARMA). Both of those schools were long and hard, but well worth wild. While in those positions, I was assigned to embassy's in Greece, Turkey, the Middle East, West Africa (DAKAR) and the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Stuttgart, Germany. My retirement from AT&T is that of a Telecommunications Engineer (Oct 1999) and my retirement from the Army is that of a Senior Warrant Officer (CW4). My retirement from the Army is much better than that of AT&T. I must admit that retirement is good to my family. To bad I can't take advantage of it. If I could get around better, I would catch a military hop to England, Germany, Spain or anywhere for $10 each way. The military aircraft is going there anyway and for those of us who want are merely catching a ride. Here's a thought - Looking back at life, Man has few friends, several acquiescence, and a hell of a lot of people he just plain knows. That's about enough for now. You're probably tired of reading. Once I get started, I'm on a roll and it's hard for me to stop. Tom THANK YOU ! IT WAS MY PLEASURE. (44 YEARS - GO ARMY) (30JUL1963 thru 31JUL2007) ======================================================================== "POLITICIANS ARE THE LOWEST FORM OF LIFE ON EARTH. LIBERAL DEMOCRATS ARE THE LOWEST FORM OF POLITICIANS." by: GEN. GEORGE S. PATTON ======================================================================== COMMUNICATIONS WITHOUT INTELLIGENCE IS NOISE.
