Tom's Story
Hi everyone!
After graduating I went to boot camp at Parris Island, SC and spent a couple of years in the Marine Reserves then I went on active duty. I headed off to Camp Lejeune, NC and reported to 2/10 as a forward observer. A year later I volunteered for embassy duty and headed off for school in Quantico, VA. 10 weeks later I was in Sanaa, Yemen - it was a great time and I'm still in touch with Tim Clark from that year. I reported to Dublin, Ireland and spent 18 months there and I met my wife Lesley not long before I returned to the U of FL. I had a great time in Gainesville; walked-on to the foot ball team as a fullback, majored in Anthropology, and finally married Lesley.
We spent a year in Quantico, VA as a new Marine lieutenant and then headed off to Cherry Point, NC after our first, Conor, was born. We had three good years in Cherry Point; I went to Desert Shield/Storm, spent some time above the artic circle and Ashley our 1st daughter was born. t in Saudi Arabia as a military advisor. Lesley and the kids went to Dublin for the year and I got visit several times and was there when Brendan was born in our living room...that chair will never be the same.
We returned to the states for a year of school in Quantico before heading off Tampa, FL. I got to jump out of perfectly good airplanes again, we bought our first house and melted in the central Florida heat. I decided to retire after 22 years so we headed off to Dublin, Ireland. It took some time to find a home and job but we found both and settled in only return to the US. This time we relocated to Redmond, WA and I work for Microsoft.
We have been here 5 plus years now and have no plans on leaving. Lesley teaches yoga, Conor head off for Wash State Uuniversity, Ashley graduated last year is experiencing Europe before returning for college, Dani is a Sophmore at Redmond High and Brendan is in 7th grade at Redmond Junior High. Its never a boring time in our house. Rusty Hibbard and I are still buds after 30 years and I hear from Kevin & Fred every so often so don't be shy. The best way to reach me is through email.
