Thomas's Story
Life
Hello classmates, it's good to read/hear that a bunch of you are doing and living life so well. I figure the key to a good life will always depend on your approach to how you live it, and recently I was reminded of just how precious life is. Life without "Jesus" will undoubtedly leave you wanting for more, so I try to live as well as I can as tomorrow isn't promised. So where shall I start ... I am an inner city product of Northern New Jersey. We moved all over Central and Northern NJ throughout my preteen and teenage years and after settling in the Atlantic Highlands, NJ for a bit and graduating HS, I decided to join the US Armed forces--was not motivated to pay for and attend college . Still attained a degree or two though. I've been married to the same wonderful young lady for over 26 yrs and we have two boys (gentlemen); mi familia is my heart above all, except my Lord and Savior--Jesus Christ. Sounds crazy yeah?, but I'd rather be crazy for God than just "plain crazy." We live in a world that's always changing and seems to just continue to recycle its self--Armageddon is coming ... so fasten your seatbelts and "pray" people ... and hope that you made the ultimate "guest list" and will be taken up for the ride, in the words of my beautiful niece Tara, "people, either get right or get left" Amen!
School
I absolutely enjoyed school, though I probably should have taken it a bit more seriously earlier in HHS, in any case there were way to many different females to determine who was my biggest crush, though I know there were at least two young ladies that I let get away without a some in-depth exploration--Karen F. (my prom date) and Tracy V. hmmmm! Ladies what are you doing these days? As for the classroom my most inspiring teacher by far was Mr. Kleimann (Social Studies) tho...Expand for more
ugh the teacher I had the most fun with was Ms. Del La Rosa--I probably was a pain in her butt but I know she and I had a connection.
Military Service
Service in the US Armed Forces has been a blast from start. It's been over 27 years and I have experienced so much in my travels both in the US and abroad. Though I began my service somewhat foolishly as I entered via open Gen (i.e., let the service pick my job initially--big mistake!) and so they made me a cop (security specialist) for about 12 years or so, and I tried to live by the letter of the law but fell into conflict and it wasn't until after I reclassed into Education & Training (E & T) that I figured out that any and everything is waiverable. It's amazing how much your eyes are opened once you come out from behind WSA fences. Spent over 15 years in E & T and there's nothing I'd rather be doing, of course when compared to security ... it's the difference of night-n-day. I have no regrets even today, especially having reached my current rank--way beyond my expectations. To date I've been stationed in Republic of Korea--twice (Kunsan & Osan), in Vegas--thrice, at Sheppard in Central Tex, at Misawa in Japan and finally Kirtland in New Mexico, the apparent Mecca of civilian servitude and it's been quite an experience, even much more than Nellis Air Command. I've thoroughly enjoyed the different environments especially Japan--they exude such an appreciation for outstanding service and the sushi is good too! It's the burrito that has become appreciated here in New Mexico though--damn them burritos are gonna be the death of me--that fricken green chillie is a killer! Well it's 2014 and I have been happily retired for the past 2 years and now I am basking in the hot sun in Vegas, with a beer by the pool on-the-daily--isn't life just grand!
