Thomas's Story

- Biography - From 1978 through 2008, Tom Mays served as a valued member of the GMAC L.L.C. senior management team headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. At GMAC Mays served as GMAC¿s corporate liaison to the General Motors Corporation. In this assignment, Tom was GMAC¿s principal representative on a number of GM Divisional Boards and Councils including: the Global Customer Network Strategy Board, the Business to Consumer, (B2C), Strategy Board, the GMAC Retail Steering Committee, the National Chevrolet Dealer Council, the National Buick¿Pontiac¿GMC Dealer Council, the National GM Dealer Fixed Operations Advisory Board, the Chevrolet Youth Marketing Council, the National GM Mobility Market Research Board & Advisory Council and the GMAC Open-Line Editorial Board. During his thirty year career with GMAC, Mays served in a number of senior-level management positions in various GMAC locations throughout the mid-west. His experiences included assignments as Credit Manager, Sales Manager, Business Development Manager, Assistant Control Branch Manager, Branch Manager, Marketing Manager, Manager of Consumer Events, Youth and Divisional Marketing and Corporate Liaison and Relationship Manager of General Motors. During his tenure Mays also served at the pleasure of GMAC¿s Board of Directors; performing in the capacity of an Assistant Treasurer or Assistant Secretary on numerous occasions. Tom Mays was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. At the age of eighteen he nearly lost his right arm when it was cut off in an industrial accident while working a summer job. t incredible odds when he later went on to play collegiate football after only a single year of rehabilitation. He graduated ¿Magna cum Laude¿ from the Central Michigan University, receiving a B.S. in Business Administration. He subsequently earned an M.B.A. (with a concentration in Finance), having graduated ¿With Distinction¿ from the University of Michigan, (Flint). In 2002 he received the Honorary American FFA Degree and in 2003 he received the FFA¿s Distinguished Service Award. In both 2004 and 2005, Mays was the recipient of two Certificates of Congressional Recognition, (each received for community service). Similar contributions within his local community resulted in a certificate of Tribute from the Governor of the State of Michigan in 2006. As a student in the discipline of Han Mu Kwan style Tae Kwon Do, Tom Mays was a Gold Medal winner in the Michigan Open Tae Kwon Do Championships in 2004, 2005 and 2006. In May of 2008, Mays was honored as the featured speaker for Central Michigan University's Off-Campus 2008 Graduation Convocation Program. He was subsequently honored by the University with an appointment to serve as an adjunct faculty member teaching a class in Financial Administration. In 2009, Tom Mays became the President and C.E.O. of "Tandem Axis Management, Inc."; a Michigan Corporation with a national footprint designed to provide Business owners with a broad range of Cost Recovery initiatives at little or no up-front cost. The Tandem Axis Management Group also markets Financial Products and Services through its A.T.C.O. division and provides both Personal and Commercial Photography services through its "Frame It" Photography Division.
