Thomas's Story
I married Kate Ashmun, my high-school heart-throb. We became Christians and moved to Chardon in the mid 1970s. Through some friends, I had the opportunity to help start a movement that became the so-called 'Religious Right." In the early 1980s, I went into my dad's business.
Kate and I raised our six kids. She home-schooled off and on. We have nine grand-children. I've taught Sunday school since 1986.
I'm president of the St. Francis Foundation which owns the Villa Serena, an affordable housing facility for seniors. It's next to Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Hts.
I'm a co-founder and treasurer of Global Assistance Partners, Inc. We work with Pentecostal pastors in Ukraine and Kenya. We also care for AIDS widows and o...Expand for more

I helped found Cornerstone Christian Academy in Willoughby Hills.
I've been on the board of COSE and have been their Volunteer/Advocate of the year a couple times.
I've been on the board of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce for a few years and I've chaired the Ohio Small business Council.
I've served on the board of the National Small Business Association (NSBA) for a while and was Tax Chair and Health and Human Resource Chair. I got to testify before Congress twice. I was awarded the Small Business Advocate of 2009 by the NSBA.
Other than that, I just try to run my business and keep out of trouble.
Kate graduated from Columbia. She's got on her Master's degree in American History through the Ashbrook Center.
