Thomas's Story
After high school I attended Southwest Texas State University where I studied music with J Lesley Varner. Mr. Varner was one of the best musicians I have ever had the pleasure to know and led me to a life in music. I graduated SWTSU with a music education degree but was intent on performing, so I continued my studies at the University of Kansas where I received my Master of Music degree. Days after finishing my course work I auditioned for and won a position as Tubist in the United States Military Academy Band (West Point). The West Point Band is one of only three Premier Bands in the US. Army and is located in New York. I spent the next twenty years preforming with the West Band. UN, and 1000’s of small towns and universities across the country. I have preformed for eight different presidents, the Pope and most importantly many great US citizens. It was a true honor to be part of such a great organization.
While there my wife, Carla and I had two great kids. First Andy then Jessie. They had a wonderful time growing up at West Point playing hockey, skiing, playing Lacrosse and just running around being kids.
In 2006 I retired from the Army and we moved to California. My son is now a music producer in the pop/rap music world and my my daughter works for an amusement park and also is an artist. I have been a music teacher in the public schools since I moved here. My wife and I are separated/divorced now but life is good.
