This refuge has been around since the 1930's. It's primarily several very large "ponds" with dikes and dams to control water and plant levels.
With the eagle show done, we get wisked-off by bus for the refuge tour.
After the Bald Eagle talk, they brought out a Golden Eagle (sorry, no pic). It turns out that the Bald is designed for grabbing fish from water, so is equipped with very different features than the Golden, which primarily g
It turns out this is an adult female Bald Eagle, and it's about twice the size of an adult male. The speaker gave a very informative speil regarding this bird while this lady held the bird.
Holy crap, look at the size of this thing.
Inside we wait a bit, and then the show starts.
The eagle show has a limit of 200 people, so the line has already formed.
So far I still haven't seen an eagle yet at this refuge. Just this bluebird.
…and back into the crowds.

…past a "cliff" face…

So down I go…
…bye bye view. I'll be back again someday (on a clear day one should be able to see Kansas and Nebraska from this Missouri site).
…whilst this trail continues on its way on the top of the ridge. VERY cool. But time is running out. I have to turn around and race back down to make the eagle show by 2pm, so…
