Thomas's Story
Has it really been 45 years?!
Where to start, let's see - after RHS I went to Bucknell University for a few months, and then joined the turn-on, tune-in, drop-out generation. Fortunately that didn't last long and I soon took a job in the laboratory of a chemical company (duh), got married, and bought a house. That marriage didn't work out but did produce three children and four grandchildren (UPDATE: Make that five!)..
The job did work out, however, and I climbed the ranks to, of all things, Vice President of Sales & Marketing. The best part of the job was that it afforded me the opportunity to travel throughout the world (wholeselling synthetic lubricants), and enough money to retire early, which I did in 2007 after 38 years.
I remarried in 1999 to a lovely Irish lassie, and since we are both now retired we can travel frequently, finally getting the time to savor all the great places I passed through on business trips. Serious hobbies include photography, vegetable gardening, cooking, reading, investing, and art collecting.
For now I am still in NJ (Parlin) but plan to move to somewhere warmer and mor...Expand for more
e rural in the not too distant future, perhaps Virginia or the Carolinas. There I can expand my garden into a small "farmette". (UPDATE: We bought a 25 acre farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwestern Virginia (Floyd) and my vegetable garden is now five times larger! We kept the house in NJ for now and go back and forth).
I periodically rummage through the old Class of '68 yearbook, and then visit Classmates to see where all those familiar faces have wound up. It would be great to reconnect with old friends, so feel free to drop a note.
(UPDATE) Very sad to say my beautiful sweet loving wife Katy passed away on June 3, 2014. I'm totally lost and
heartbroken.
(Another UPDATE) I met a lady in our little mountain town who had lost her husband of 35 years just a few months after I lost my Katy. Discovered we had everything in common and we married last year (2015). Life is back on track!
Yet another UPDATE! Make that seven grandchildren! Been retired for 13 years now and still savoring the sweet spot of life in the Blue Ridge Mountains (Floyd, VA) with my lovely wife Debbie and three cats.
