Thomas's Story
My best friends at Marshall High School were Roosevelt Gordon, James Askew, Marcia Armstrong and Jessie Slaughter. I was on the football team but did not play much. I got hurt at practice my senior year. I went to the University of Illinois Circle Campus (UICC) for Architecture, but graduated with a B.A. in Sociology in 1971. there for 7 years and went to law school at night at John Marshall Law School. I became a lawyer in 1977 and worked as a Public Defender until I started a law firm with a college classmate in 1982. In 1985 I became president of the Cook County Bar Association. In 1988 I was appointed as an Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County. In December of 2007 I retired from the bench and now I spend my time enjoying my grandchildren, fishing, hunting and traveling with my wife of 40+ years.
