Thomas's Story
Life
After graduation from college, I became a band director in the Wayne County Schools in Jesup Georgia. I was a middle school director and assistant band director at the high school. I was the color guard instructor for 12 years and was the unit's first instructor, which was formed in preparation for the 1979 football season. After 17 years in this band program, I moved on. I also taught in the Glynn County, Forsyth County and Walton County. I taught for 25 years, after which I retired for medical reasons.
In March, 1998, I was injured in an automobile accident as I was driving home from a performance at a PTA meeting. After two more years, I retired because of these injures - primarily the lower back, as well as my right collar bone, shoulder blade and rib cage.
After retirement, I worked for Portman's Music of Savannah, GA, from the store in Brunswick, GA. During that time, I lived on St. Simon's Island, GA, on the marsh of Dunbar Creek. I moved to Powder Springs, GA, th...Expand for more
en to Marietta, GA. While in Cobb County, I worked for Draisden-Edwards Music in their store located just off Johnson's Ferry Road, about one mile north of the Chattahoochee River. Before their split from the New School of Music, I also worked sometimes in the store in Dunwoody Village in Dunwoody, GA (north of Perimeter Mall).
I dated often, with the goal of marriage and children, but never found a willing partner in that venture. But I tried - proposals were made, but were accepted then rescinded, or never accepted. They were all awesome women, but ... As far as children, I have none (that I know of). I'll leave that as "just that".
In 2006, I decided to leave the music education business and make retirement a more permanent thing. I am currently living in Americus.
