Thomas's Story

After San Macros I spent two years at City College followed by three at UCSB amid those troublous times, culminating in a BA in Biochemistry and a conversion to the humanities. This was followed by two years at Cal Poly where I earned an MA in English and found the love of my life. (We’re approaching our fortieth anniversary.) We moved to Eugene and the University of Oregon. My wife earned an MLS followed by an MA in history while I obtained a Ph.D. in English, writing on Dante and the Victorians. ally landed in Savannah, Georgia. Here in the garden of good and evil, I happily taught classes in English, comparative literature, philosophy, and world religions, and pursued various scholarly projects, including three books and multiple articles over the next 29 years. My wife served as an academic librarian in both Atlanta and Savannah. We have now retired to Portland, Oregon. Here we enjoy the weather and cultural amenities in a simpatico environment. I also continue my scholarly passions, most recently articles on Proust and on French animation, and am currently juggling projects on Dante and Kurosawa.
