Thomas's Story
Is there life after EGR, yes....after graduating and going to Junior College for an Associates Degree I landed at MSU and got a teaching degree. I taught for 4 years in Grand Rapids at Alger Elementary (got laid off) before moving to the Detroit area (still there)to teach in Macomb County (where i taught elementary ( grades 1-6), middle school 7th & 8th grade English, Math, Social Studies and High School 9th Grade English, Consumer Math, World History), I married Jan a Lowell HS grad and MSU grad in 1978 we had a daughter in 1983.....she inherited my love of sports and school spirit. She was a competitive cheerleader from 5th through 12th grades. She went on to MSU for undergrad and went to medical school in Florida. She did her residency at a Dayton Ohio hospital She then did a fellowship in Sports Medicine and is in practice both Family Practice and Sports Medicine Practice. She is married to a man with a doctorate in aeronautical engineering and is a Rocket Scientist at Wright-Patt Air Force Base in Fairborn Ohio. ultiple hats in my career there. These included Customer Service, Inventory Control, Receiving Manager, Accounts Payable, accounting manager, Tech Division manager, Product Development and Proofreading,and Wholesale Manager. Downsizing eliminated my job on October 1 2019 and I retired ( that was culture shock since I had always worked since the summer of 1962) Since the daughter and son in law had our first grandchild (Jacob)on March 25,2020 Jan and I just bought a house in Ohio and are moving there this summer (2020). We are going to assist child care (being primary child care providers now with Covid-19.....that will probably change later).It has been a few years since Jan and I were changing diapers all of the time......many improvements there....Life has been good....nothing exciting...but for those who remember me from East....other than my drive for school spirit and inner school unity and harmony (human rights not inhuman wrongs) I am pretty much that same guy.....just fatter and sassier....and bald..Grandson number 2 was born March of 2023....now 2 boys to babysit...love it and wouldn't change it for the world
