Thomas's Story

After high school, I went to UC Berkeley as a pre-med. I graduated in 1973, went to Cal State Chico for a Master's degree in Biology, then to the Univ. of Florida for a Ph.D. in Neuroscience in 1980. After a few years of postdoctoral research, and getting married, I determined that the job market was too tight and the stress levels too high to fight for NIH grants every year as a college faculty member. l in St. Louis, graduated in 1988, and have been an optometrist locally in St. Louis ever since. I have 2 kids, the youngest one just starting college, both going to Missouri State University in the southwest corner of Missouri. Both play lacrosse for the school, and I really enjoy watching them play the game. I enjoy keeping busy as an optometrist, walking through the neighborhood, visiting friends, and playing with our 2 cats.
