Thomas's Story
Hi guys:
Just a short bio. After HS went to WSUO where I received a degree in Economics. Joined the Navy; spent a year on shore duty in Norfolk, Va. and a year at sea out of Newport, RI. Upon discharge from the Navy married Elsa Skooglund a nurse from Boston, Mass. Came back to the Midwest and worked as a production buyer for J. I. Case Company out of Racine, Wis. Went back to school(Carthage College) and obtained a teaching degree in Physical Education. Went over to Central Michigan University for a Masters Degree in PE, then went to work at Central Michigan Unviersity, Mt. Pleasant, MI where I was a teacher/coach for 32 years. as no children at the moment. After three years at CMU I took a sabatical and obtained a Doctorate in Adaptive Physical Education. Coached Football (1 year) and Men's Tennis (7 years). After that went full time teaching working with Disabled Children/Adults for about 25 years. Elsa and I both retired to St. Clair, Michigan in 2002. We are enjoying our retirement (Log cabin in woods in West Branch, MI; Speed boat on the St. Clair, Waterway - Lake Huron; Lake Erie) being only 6 blocks from our three grandchildren. I had triple bypass heart surgery in 2007 and am doing well post op. Quite a mental/emotional adjustment for a guy who has never had a health problem. We continue to enjoy each day as a gift from God. May all of you have happy, healthy "second halfs" :) :) and let us know about yourselves if and when you can.
