Thomas's Story
I joined the Navy in June of 74 and saw much of this big old world. In Apr.75 I was stationed at Rota, Spain. I traveled all over Europe, North Africa and the mid. East. I met my Best Friend in Rota and we-ve been married 31 yr. Brenda and I have 3 grown kids. Marcus is a Chief Petty Officer with SEAL Team #8 He is married and has 2 daughters and a Son. Stacie lives here in Norman and she has 1 Daughter. Matthew was Honorably Discharged from the Army and lives with his Wife and kids (2 Sons and a Daughter) here in Norman.
I have worked for REA for 30 yr. Was a lineman until a year and a half ago and now coordinate the underground locates for the largest Electric Coop in Oklahoma.
Brenda and I travel when we can and wish when we can't. We enjoy working outside. We own (too much) property in Blackwell. We spend nearly every weekend up there working on it.
We waited until after we turned 50 to decide to start rescuing horses. We have rescued 3 horses and one of them was pregnant when we got her. She had a little stud colt last June.
My #1 Hero ...Expand for more
is my Wife. She died 3 times on 02Feb02 and came back to me. And my Sons. Oldest Son is a Chief Petty Officer at SEAL Team #8 and youngest Son is Honorably Discharged Army Engineer. And not to forget my daughter, single mother raising a daughter on her own.
My favorite way to relax and blow off steam? I'd have to say fishing. Catfishing - bass fishing - doesn't matter as long as I'm fishing.
Where have I lived? I'll hit the high spots - After I joined the Navy I was stationed at Great Lakes, Ill for Basic Training. Was stationed in Norfolk, Va. and Rota, Spain. Moved back to Blackwell for a few months, waiting for my Best Friends to get out of the Navy. Moved down to South Texas, where after a few months I got a job at the local REA. Lived in Sinton, Tx - GeorgeWest, Tx. and Beeville, Tx. Moved back to Oklahoma City during the Oil Boom of the 80's to make a million dollars. HA !
Found a job with REA in Norman and have been here since 82.
If I won $100 million dollars?
That's easy, I would build a school and home for "Throw Away Kids."
