After high school, I went to CPCC and took auto body repair and auto mechanics. I got drafted after that, and went to Viet Nam. When I got back home, I went to work for my father building car engines for about two years. Then I worked in a car parts warehouse for a while. After this I got married for the first time, what a 10 Year bummer. At this time I was a house painter, which lasted for 6 years. I got the chance to go work at Pelton and Crane in 1978. There we made dental equipment. I worked at this job for 19 1/2 years. I guess I was set in my ways and things were to comfortable to want to change jobs, but in 1998 the company was set to shut down. So I decided that I wanted to work at a home improvement warehouse. Some of the guys that worked with talked me in to going to work at Home Depot. I lasted 2 1/2 weeks and quit. I hated Home Depot before I went there and really hated it after I worked there. I sat around for 6 weeks looking for a job, filling out applications and interviewing for jobs. I really didn't know what I wanted to do being 49 years old. I guess I decided one morning I didn't give the home improvement business a good shot, so I went to Lowe's and got a job. Lowe's was a different world, it was so much more fun working there.
