Thomas (Ed)'s Story
Life
Went to NCSU right after 71st, got a BS in Recreation Resources Administration. Did 13 years with active duty USAF, (Little Rock AFB, AR; RAF Mildenhall, UK; Travis AFB, CA) - got my Master of Public Administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco while on active duty. Lived in SF Bay area for about 12 years, had a sales technology business there and worked with concert promotions a bit (Johnny Lee, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornesby, Huey Lewis and the News, Merle Haggard, and a lot of locals). Married/divorced/1 daughter - (21 in 2004)(has it really been that long?). Came back to "Uncle" in 1999 with the civil service/Reserves at Homestead Air Reserve Base, FL (south of Miami - yes, it's still there).
Moved to the D.C. area to work at Andrews AFB in 2001 with the White House Communications Agency taking care of "Dubya's" gear. Trying like hell to get back to being a "Floridiot".
As of 5 March 04 on my way back to where it all began - Sheppard AFB, TX where I will be the Traffic Manager.
Moved again....at Scott AFB, IL now working for US Transportation Command. Another promotion and more to deal with. (another level, an...Expand for more
other devil) Did the marriage thing again and adopted 3 new "children" (4-footed variety).
Only been 11 years since my last update...went to US Transportation Command at Scott AFB, IL 2005-2008. Switched over to the Navy in 2007. 2008-2010 was at Redstone Arsenal, AL working for the US Missile Defense Agency. 2010-2011 went to Dover AFB, DE. 2011-2012 went to Holloman AFB, NM (Alamogordo). 2012 - now I'm the Installation Transportation/Traffic Management Officer for Joint Base Charleston. Did the second divorce thing in 2013. Love the Charleston area.....made many new friends, bought a Charleston-style house in Summerville, and am looking forward to retirement in about 4 years after 40 years of working for "Uncle". I still pay my annual visits to my "second home" in Key West every April for the Conch Republic Independence Celebration (CRIC) and occasionally in November for the Meeting of the Minds (Parrothead Festival). Last year I managed to get off my butt and attend the Class of 1974's 40th Reunion in Fayetteville - had a blast - met some folks I hadn't seen in many years. Still go up on occasion to see folks and reminisce.
