Life As we recall the time, it was early Vietnam. My draft # was 6 so it was into the Navy to avoid the mud..only to have the diaherretic opportunity to ride a tail-rotorless helicopter smack into the mud...due to the low military standards that allowed pilots to routinely imbibe before flights. I inherited a series of demanding family businesses and ended up on the Virginia Planning Commission discussing the superficial values of the DAR and the apparently ongoing Civil War. Brazen enough to post "One Code" on my vanity license plate and choosing to ignore the accompanying notoriety, I tired of nude, night scuba diving and prioritized fly fishing all the crystal clear rivers of the western states. Being more than 80% complete at this point, I consider the transition from greed-driven, mountain-top removal to participating in a pristene natural environment a major element of personal success. So when I read that many of my former classmates have done little with their lives I do not ask why, but simply understand "why not."
