Tiera's Story
Life
An update on the life of Tiera Bennett.. Well I finished High School and thought of nothing else but getting married to my then boyfriend Scott. That never came to pass (thank goodness), but I did get involved in the full time missionary work for 3 years. I met and married a man with similar interests in 1989. I moved to San Jose, California made lots of new friends and found a really good job. I worked as an administrative assistant for the Victim Witness Assistant Center. We represented victims of violent crimes. This is a State funded program and was a good challenge for me for a while. Until I got a Police report on my desk that told of a rape of someone I actually knew. I realized then that it touched everyone, crime that is. I later found out I was going to have my first son, and 6 months into my pregnancy I got to come home to Oregon. In 1993 my first son was born and in 1996 my second son was born. I then got to be a stay at home mom, it was wonderful, and everything in life I always wanted. e best news for the day. I am a single mother of 2 and I love my life. I work in the engineering department of the company that I now have the privilege of being an employee owner of. I found out why I loved math so much in school... you really do use it in the real world. This move has allowed me to figure out what I am going to do when I grow up. There are no words for that. I haven't been able to attend college like so many of you all had the chance, but I now have what ever classes I take paid for by my employer. Sometimes it takes along time for us to figure out what we are going to do in a career, often it doesn't have anything to do with what we went to school for. I did it the other way, found it and then learned what I needed to support my family and make me happy. I now have time for friends and my family. I love going out and having a good time. Life is so full of drama and joys, some times it takes to much drama to realize that there is a lot more joy in the world you live in, if you just pay attention to it. That has been my life and some of the lessons learned. I am happy to know that after 20 yrs. of being out of school that I will be able to hear about all of the life experience of those that I have lost contact with.
