Timothy's Story
Life
Ok, I blew it and Mom is not happy with me...
Since age 9 she had told me that I was going to be a doctor. Honestly, I just never thought about anything else. It seemed simple just to go through school without thinking about other options.
16 years later I had achieved that goal and graduated med school. Things were right on course. In 1998, I returned home to live 1 mile away from my parents and start a medical practice with my wife, who is also a physician.
With the birth of our 2nd child in May 2002, I had already realized that my medical career was going to get in the way of life. At that time, my 2 year old daughter was referring to my wife & I by our first names. Our Nanny was "Mommy." Obviously our lives were out of balance.
I decided to make a major change 10 days before my son was born - I would pursue business that would offer me more flexibility, time, and freedom with a lot less stress & responsibility. Unfortunately my options were limited as I was already working over 100 hours per week.
By age 35 I had succeeded in creating a side income much greater than what my wife and I could have ever achieved in medicine. So I retired from medicine and began traveling the world with my family.
In March 2006, I began launching a new business and quickly took it into over 40 countries in its first year. The best part is during this time, I had more family time than ever. I continue to build this business, but I do it from the comfort of my own home.
Back to my Mom... She is not pleased that her son is no longer a doctor, but she appreciates the lifestyle I have created for my family.
School
Grade school memories: rolling in barrels down the hill by the baseball field, getting paddled, dodgeball & kickball on the tennis courts, getting paddled, fish sticks and milk chips.

hman year -> stressful, football & track, girls, "get the led out", TC3, concerts, the Crew, backroads, the lake, camping at Baby Falls
College
College: much easier than expected, REM, INXS, U2, dorm food, dorm floor with Sammy-Boy, Little Dead & Sugar Magnolia, and Garp. Fraternity house food, bunks, lingo, smell, & window teams. Only "B" was in History of Rock-n-Roll. Yellow super beetle, gray F150 4x4, navy Acura. Jerry studying while cranking Motley Crue, jumping on bed, and chugging beer. UT Football -> GO VOLS!
Med School: Netter, walking in Memphis, roller-blade hockey at the Pyramid, Mud Island living, Wolf Creek mountain biking and dirt biking, cramming, procrastinating, & delivering babies (where in the hell were the residents and attendings for God's sake), Debra and our vacation-of-freedom road trip, getting married, surviving the couples match for residency programs, leaving Memphis.
Residency - Colorado, Dakota Ridge, Kenosha pass, Buffalo Creek, the call room, no humidity, mountain biking every day, snow skiing all winter, the call room, Denver trail system, Broncos, Avs, Rockies, Moab trips, the call room.
Workplace
My own medical practice, Hooray! Incredible patients. Where is Debra? If we both work here, how come we never see each other? Drug rep lunches, running to the ICU throughout the day, running to the ICU throughout the night, "where's my money?", beepers suck, 100 hour work weeks, employee dishonesty, moving the practice to Athens, retiring from practice.
Major career change from the stress of medicine to the freedom of network marketing. Traveling the world with the family, summers by the pool with the kids, NO CALL, NO PAGERS, NO STRESS, NO GOING BACK! Coffee shops in Amsterdam, Cliff-diving in Croatia, navigating Venice, crazy taxi drivers in Sicily, surfing in Maui, beautiful beaches, Training and coaching others how to do the same - the best feeling in the world...
