Tim's Story
Following high school I went to Frostburg State, where I wrestled, and declared majors in psychology and physical education.. With 1 year of credits left to get my degrees, I got a passion for the field of medicine, and I transferred to Salisbury State. I enrolled in an aggressive 2-year pre-med curriculum and took the necessary courses to complete my bachelors degree in psychology, One student-teaching year shy from a degree in physical education. Following graduation from college, I accepted an offer to attend The Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, right across from NIH, entering medical school as a Lieutenant and finishing med school as a Captain. Following medical school, we moved to the Dayton Ohio area where I completed a three-year residency in internal medicine. Following this, we moved to Oklahoma City where I completed a three year fellowship in rheumatology and immunology at The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation at the University of Oklahoma, in Oklahoma city. I served in the Air Force and my final assignment was Wright, Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. We liked it there and so decided to stay. Rheumatology at Wright State University, where I taught medical students, residents and other physicians; did medical research, and and saw patients. During my time there I published multiple articles, clinical studies and case reports, and provided multiple presentation in the US and abroad. After 10 years in academics I spent 8 years in the pharmaceutical industry supporting research and developing biologic drugs used for various autoimmune diseases for 2 different bio-pharma companies. I left the bio-pharma industry in 2014 so I could finish my 42 year career as a clinical Rheumatologist (seeing patients) in Troy, Ohio north of Dayton. I married Karen in March, 2020 and we live in Tipp City Ohio, 15 minutes north of Dayton. I retired in October, 2021, but am considering going back to work within the next year.
My oldest daughter, Sara, takes care of her ailing mother in Huber Heights, Ohio and my daughter Anna lives in the St Louis area.
My year book was stolen from my locker 2 weeks after we received them so I don't have one to peruse when I'm feeling nostalgic. Also, for some reason I missed picture day so the only pictures of me in the year book are choir and wrestling photos.
