Tim's Story

Grew up in DeRidder and had what I mostly recall was a very active and pleasant childhood. My father pastored a church on Texas Avenue, and then one later out on the highway going towards Maryville. After finishing high school, I attended Louisiana college and got a degree in Information Systems and computer programming. After which I spent 3 years at New Orleans Seminary to work on my Masters of Music. That was way back in 1989. Got heavy into bodybuilding and karate somewhere along in there. Since then, I've married the most amazing Cajun lady and we have had 3 children, with #4 on the way and due in mid-2009. I've been blessed to be able to record Christian music, with my most recent CD being produced by my friend Travis. Travis was Grammy nominated last year and has won 3 Dove awards for producing folks like Disciple, Pillar, POD, Toby Mac, Jag Star, Charlie Daniels, Dolly Parton etc. (TimLeeMinistry.com) (I still recall playing Little River Band's "Lady" and Lionel Richey's "Still" for the high school talent show. ) I currently live in Knoxville, TN, and own some lending institutions. My wife has also had a flourishing website business for years (SavannahsTreasures.com). These pay the bills. But my passion is leading worship and inviting people to open their hearts to Christ. I love going to the local rescue ministry here and loving those guys who have nothing to live for. My passion to do this started in DeRidder when my father would take me as a little boy to the tall city jail on Sunday afternoons. All I saw as I peered up the cylindrical building were the calloused often bloodied hands of the prisoners hanging out the bars. Some surrendered to Jesus. Many did not. Some things never change. Yep, that nickname of "Rev" growing up was prophetic. When your dad's on the radio preaching every morning from 7:2...Expand for more
0-7:30, and Mr. Mo the bus driver plays his sermons for all the kids to hear, under the seat was my preferred mode of transport to school. But while it brought embarrassment and ridicule as a young boy, that moniker, "Preacher", is the one I most gladly embrace now! I suppose in the end it will be the only one that has eternal consequence and merit. Now, when the men and women at the mission wave and yell out to me "Hey Rev - You preaching the service tonight?"...it only brings a smile. - I also recall growing up watching Darrel McDonald and Vic Veillon play awesome baseball under the coaching of Mr. Finn. Then came my summer days of baseball with Tracy Johnson, Mike Simmons, Shannon Slover, Troy Myers and others. Still have the baseballs from the All-Star games against Moss Bluff, Sulphur, and heaven help us, the massacres we endured against those Dequincy ogres. (And still have the trophy for hitting the first home run out of what was then the brand new middle baseball park. First pitch - A Gary Barby fastball deep to left center.) Sometimes I think it would be cool to field a team one more time...I think I could still strike Mike out... For the most part, great memories, for me at least. Camping out at Greg's house, riding motorcycles out to the airport, wandering the neighborhoods at night knocking on doors, swimming in Tracy's pool...The grade school crushes. You never forget them do you? Marlene Clements! First grade. Broke my heart. Simpler times. DeRidder was in many ways, my Lake Wobegon. - Well, I hope that anyone who reads this and was there to experience those days, that you are doing well, have prospered since those times, and are in excellent health, both in body and soul. Thank you for the awesome memories! All my best to you all. "Rev" If you want to reach me, check out my website above.
