Tim's Story

Life Tim is a computer technology professional with many years of technical expertise in desktop support, network administration and systems management. He is currently the IT Manager for Avjet, a private jet charter and sales company located at the Burbank Bob Hope airport. For ten years Tim provided IT support for various Southern California manufacturing companies. Prior to that he was a programmer / analyst for a small family-owned publishing company where he developed systems and programs to deliver pricing data for the automotive industry. Tim began his career in retail computer sales and software distribution in various sales, tech support and management positions. He is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and continues to pursue other certifications necessary to keep up with advancing technology. Tim is married, has one son and is very active in his local community church. He enjoys reading, research, writing and correspondence. You can find him online every day on various internet online communities and blogs, especially in the tech area. School I was not a great student in high school. My learning style is kinesthetic (hands-on) so I had a hard time paying attention to the lecture style used in most of my classes. I guess that's why I loved playing the drums in band throughout high school. If you knew me in High School you may have wondered what happened to me my senior year. I got kicked out for throwing a milk carton into the quad. Yeah, ...Expand for more
I know, that was dumb. I got sent to Fair Valley Continuation High School. It was a really dumbed-down curriculum and I graduated in three or four months. I did much better in college because I knew what I wanted to do with my life (computers) and immersed myself in computer programming classes at Mt SAC. I got a job as a programmer right away and have been working with computers ever since. College I loved my college days. I was a total geek (still am) but I was enjoying it immensely. Not only did I take all computer classes but I worked in the computer lab helping other people with their programming tasks. I was an officer in the computer club and visited lots of workplaces to see how they used computers. I only stayed in college long enough to get a job and just happened to get an associates degree at the same time. Workplace I love my career. It has been a fantastic journey. Every job has been related to computers - programming, selling, managing, training and writing about them. I seem to change jobs every few years but each job has gotten better and better. Now I work from my home office supporting users at a distance. What a gig! Military Sadly, I was not able to carry on the family tradition of military service. My father was a Navy man for most of his life and my brother served in the Marines and in the Navy for a large part of his adult life. Health limitations kept me out of the military even though I tried to enlist twice in my younger days.
