Tim's Story

Hi There! I have spent most of my career as a Soil Scientist- Geologist. I have a MS in Soil Science from NC State Univ. I just retired from the Virginia Department of Conservation & Recreation where I was in charge of Virginia's Nutrient Management Program, assisting both Ag and Urban groups in the application of nutrients in a timely and environmentally sensitive manner to protect Water Quality in Va., and the Chesapeake Bay. Prior to that I worked in the environmental field for a large emergency response firm. During 911 and the Anthrax issues I was heavily involved. I have also been a forest Fire Fighter since 1982 for the Virginia Department of Forestry usually operating a fire plow ( bulldozer) on forest fires. and woodland fires across the state,...Expand for more
and other states as well. I have served on 6 expert panels for the EPA to assist them in developing inputs into the Model for the Chesapeake Bay TMDL (Total Maximum Daily Load) as required by Executive Order and Federal Lawsuits to protect the Bay. I trout fish, camp, and work with Virginia Tech and Virginia State University in their efforts to assist farmers and Urban folks to best manage their crops and landscape areas. I hope to be able to take what I have learned over the past 45 years and convey some of that to those who need it before I get run over by a bus or shot. I have a grandson who is a senior at Averett University where he is the Captain of their Baseball Team. My youngest grandson just got his learners permit to drive. God Help Us all!
