Tim's Story
Life
Have lived in Washington, DC since 9/2000 and love it. I'm in great location less than a mile from the White House.
No kids, no wife, no ex-wife.
College
I didn't have the typical college experience. I finished my first two years while still in the Navy at the local community college in Virginia Beach, VA. After getting out of the Navy I moved back to St. Pete in 1993 and continued my education at Univ. of South Florida. I was in my first semester at USF at our 10-year reunion. I graduated with a Business degree (Finance) in 1995 a couple of months before turning 30.
Workplace
After graduating from USF in 1995, I got a job at Raymond James and Associates in St. Petersburg. I really liked the company and love the industry. I worked in the Equity Research area and then moved to the Trading area. But then I wanted a change out of Florida and sent my resume to an old Navy buddy who worked for US Airways in Arlington, VA just outside of Washington, DC. I got the job and have been here since 9/2000. I am a Project Manager in the ...Expand for more
Revenue Management department. It's a fascinating industry. The best part? Free travel! I've been on 130 trips and over 260K miles. Yes, 130. I don't have to travel for work so all those trips were for pleasure. I work at the headquarters and have a normal M-F workweek so I can travel most weekends if I want to. But after being here five years I tend to travel less and just enjoy DC on the weekends. I've been to Rome, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Spain, Guatemala, Panama, Cancun, Mexico City, Toronto, Montreal, and several cities in the U.S.
Military
I enlisted in the Navy during our senior year. A few months after graduation I went to bootcamp and then about a year's worth of electronic's training. I was an Electronics Technician in the Navy's Submarine Force -- the elite of the Navy (don't let a surface ship tell you otherwise). I was onboard a Trident Class submarine which carried nuclear warheads so we weren't allowed to pull into foreign ports. So I didn't get to "see the world" in the Navy. We did go to Hawaii and Alaska though.
