Tim's Story
So what have I been up to lately...Well I am still down in Visalia, working for Kaweah Delta Hospital. I have been there for 26 years now. I am currently working in the MRI department performing scans, which is what I did back in the late 1980s but somewhere along the way I sort of went nuts and got into management for a few years.
Eventually I was offered a position to start up a digital imaging project for Kaweah Delta so I fled management and got involved in this new thing. We go the ball rolling in 2001 when we got our first bit of radiology equipment on the hospital network.
During that time I was encouraged by my boss to get a Bachelors Degree. so I went back to school for the first time in 20 years since I left Fresno City College in 1981. The classes I took were at Lemoore NAS which was fun to be around the military guys and hearing them talk shop. It did get a little difficult getting around there after 9/11 happened but I adapted and it all worked out. I got my Business Admin/Management information systems degree in 2004.
Instead of doing something with that degree I went back to doing MRI scans after figuring out that being salaried and on call constantly wasn't all it was cracked up to be (maybe I did learn something).
One cool thing th...Expand for more
at happened lately is that my wife Teresa is now working at the same place as I am so we get to see each other once in a while. We get kidded about being left alone lunch time and having violin music and all that crud.
My two kids are almost all growed up. My oldest son Jeremy is 19 and attending the College of the Sequoias. He's taking some computer classes and is trying to get a degree in Graphic Design. My youngest Joshua is a senior at El Diamante HS. He's into drama and it's amazing what they do in HS drama these days. They do all sorts of SFX such as having people on wires for the flying monkeys for their production of "The Wizard of Oz."
My spare time as of late is taken up doing Civil War reenacting. I get to camp and eat outdoors, run around in wool uniforms, shoot guns and get asked" are you hot in that uniform" a lot. I got into reliving the Civil War right after finishing my Bachelors Degree. This past spring I participated in a Civil War era living history presentation at Alcatraz Island. I played the part of a military prisoner and spent my time getting marched around the place and yelled at by the guards. Tons of fun. It was pouring rain when we left so a lot of us were smelling like drowned
sheep afterward.
Well that should do it for now.
